Consumables for ultrasonic deburring and cleaning equipment.

  • Do you have problems managing consumables for deburring?
  • Water is the largest consumable in ultrasonic deburring cleaning. It does not pollute the environment.

Consumables for ultrasonic deburring cleaning

Ultrasonic deburring cleaning technology is still new compared to other means of deburring.
For this reason, many people are unaware of what consumables are available, which is why they are explained here.
As a rule, ultrasonic deburring requires the prior removal of oil and other substances.
The reason for this is that deburring basically doubles up as finishing cleaning.
The purpose of ultrasonic deburring is to remove both burrs and fine particles.
This section describes the consumables used for deburring as a finishing touch.
Consumables for the removal of mineral oil, etc. are excluded.
The description is based on the typical model PERION-DB-2400.

Electricity and air

*Electricity*

For electrical power for ultrasonic oscillators and transducers, circulation filters, vacuum pumps, etc,The PERION-BB-2400 uses a chiller for 4 KVA cooling.
The chiller’s 1.5 KW is added to the 5.5 KVA of electricity used during operation.

*Air*

0.4 MPa is used for a 50φ air cylinder to slowly move the cage 40 mm up and down.
The air cylinder is used to slowly move the cage 40 mm vertically and horizontally. This air volume is approx. 10 Nℓ/min.

Water (pure water)

Water is normally used for deburring. If water is strictly prohibited, hydrocarbon solvents may be used, but here water is used.
Water usually contains Ca ions and Si ions, and if there are too many of these, they can easily stain the surface during drying. Water is fine for deburring itself, but if ions are a problem, we recommend the use of pure water.
Water is used in a circular filtration process, so the consumption is usually the amount of evaporation and the amount taken out that is attached to the deburred sample. Usually the right amount is automatically added. We also recommend draining and replacing the entire volume (approx. 40 litres) of water once a week. For example, on Friday, the water is drained using the pump provided and added on Monday morning. This is to prevent the water from rotting.
In any case, this is the amount of water consumed.

Filter

The removed burrs are filtered through an attached circulating filter. Heavy materials sink to the bottom of the tank. The filter is usually a cartridge filter made of viscose rayon, which is commonly available on the market. Depending on the type of degassing system, an activated carbon filter is also fitted for protection. The filtration pressure alarm goes off when the filtration pressure reaches 0.35 MPa to 0.4 MPa and must be replaced immediately.
In the past, there have been accidents with Mg alloys where a large amount of burrs have appeared, clogging the pipework of the equipment. If there is a possibility that a large amount of burrs may be produced, there are models available for this purpose, so please consult us when you purchase your machine.

Ultrasonic oscillators and diaphragms

Oscillators are not consumables. However, if it is difficult to procure one immediately overseas, it is recommended to keep a spare part. The diaphragm is a basic tool for deburring and is a consumable item. If they are used correctly, they should normally be replaced after about three years. However, it depends on how it is used and how often it is used, so an inspection is necessary. (See also: Diaphragm) As with oscillators, please take spare parts with you when you go abroad. It is the same as a deburring blade. It is not something that can be used forever.

Deaerators

There are two types depending on the intended use. Vacuum deaerating towers and hollow fibre deaerating modules. The former can be used for a relatively long time and is resistant to dirt, but it also depends on the contamination of the object.
We recommend an annual maintenance contract after prior consultation.
The latter is weak against dirt and easily clogged, so it is protected by an activated carbon filter.
This should also be considered a consumable item that will last for about one year.
Of course, if the water is pure and has low dissolved components, it should last for about three years.
It is recommended to have a dissolved oxygen meter and test it regularly.

Ultrasonic deburring and consumables

Ultrasonic deburring is characterised by the fact that very few consumables are required. This is a major feature when compared with other deburring methods.
