FC and FCD Ultrasonic casting sand removal 3/9/2021
It is now known that there are two types of casting sand removal. In ultrasonic casting sand removal, FC gives poor results, while FCD gives relatively good results.
FCD (spheroidal graphite cast iron) has a lower attenuation rate of ultrasonic waves compared to FC (filamentous graphite cast iron), and if the ultrasonic waves are strong enough, they will pass through the interior. Of course, the attenuation is much higher than that of cast steel, but not as high as that of FC. If ultrasonic waves are supplied at a level commensurate with the attenuation, ultrasonic sand removal from FCD450, 500, 600 (spheroidal graphite cast iron to ductile iron) is fully feasible.
We would like to actively undergo FCD casting sand ultrasonic removal experiments in the future.
