Classic but easy water displacement method using hydrocarbon solvents May 31, 2021

Ultrasonic cleaning and deburring are performed using water or a water-soluble cleaning agent. Although it would be better if the parts could go directly to the drying process, they often have to pass through a hydrocarbon solvent cleaner.

In this case, water must be completely removed and replaced with a hydrocarbon solvent.

In this case, a water displacement technique is used in which a certain auxiliary agent is added to a so-called hydrocarbon solvent (kerosene was also used 30 years ago). In this case, water displacement with a water-soluble surfactant should not be used because the subsequent process is a hydrocarbon solvent. Water-soluble surfactants do not dissolve in hydrocarbon solvents, and although they are useful for water displacement, they can get mixed in with the cleaning machine, turning the machine into a new source of contamination later on.

We have excellent, safe water displacement aids that can make hydrocarbon solvents excellent water displacement agents anywhere in the world. Please feel free to contact us for more information.
