Cellulose production technology by ultrasonic waves patent granted 2024/7/11

2024.12.02

We are pleased to announce that we have been granted a patent for a technology to extract cellulose from lignocellulose (cellulose, hemicellulose, and lignin), the main constituent of plants, using powerful ultrasound.

The patent granted this time is for a technology to extract cellulose and produce bioethanol and biofuel using only ultrasonic waves and water, without using sulfuric acid or enzymes. Basically, this technology can make biofuel from almost any plant, including roadside weeds.

We believe that this technology can make a significant contribution to global energy issues.

Furthermore, we have succeeded in creating a new material from extracted cellulose, nanocellulose or nanocellulose fiber, a superfine fiber that is stronger than steel. In other words, we have succeeded in creating a new material of the future that is not plastic, but rather nature-friendly.

Unlike the low molecular weight hyaluronic acid production technology patented earlier, the mass production test facility will be quite large, so we will proceed with development while keeping a close eye on the performance of our core business.

It has been about 35 years since we discovered ultrasonic generated cavities – micro vacuum nuclei. It has taken a long time, but now that we can finally use explosion-shrinkage technology to accelerate the speed of cavity annihilation, I believe it will be useful not only for deburring, but also for the development and commercialization of various products in the future.
